前日のロサンゼルス・コロシアムでの11.5万人の観衆を集めたレッドソックス対ドジャースのオープン戦。とにかく半端無い人の数と、変なフィールドと、ド ジャースの中堅アンドリュー・ジョーンズを2塁後方に置いた5人内野（しかもジョーンズがエルスバリーの盗塁死の送球を受けるという珍プレーも。６０ｍのレフトの高さ１８ｍ のフェンス越えホームランは3発。ドジャース西海岸移転50周年記念の一環で行われました。）
